Urban Interventions - Prospects for the Future

As mid-2009 the international studio house Salzamt opened its doors and was one of the objectives to strengthen the international artist exchange with European countries. The artist studio Salzamt as young, urban place is providing studios and an exhibition space. From the beginning the networking between Linz artists and foreign artists was the basic design of the house: because of working and living together in the house, through the development of joint exhibition projects and the intensification of communication. The project "Urban Interventions”, which was started by Linz Kultur (culture department of the City of Linz) with five European partners simultaneously with the opening of the Salzamt was a major catalyst to achieve this goal. So the studio building was involved in an international network from the start of former makers and future European Capitals of Culture. The possibilities of international networking were used from the beginning. The participating artists went on this journey of contacts which permanently influenced their artistic careers positively.
